If your refrigerator model's serial number is above, it requires immediate service. Refrigerator model and serial numbers can be viewed by looking on the inside right of your refrigerator cabinet. Continued propane gas mode operation of a refrigerator under this recall could result in a fire.
If you own an affected model:
• Immediately switch your refrigerator's controls to AC power (or DC power, if available, while in transit). No LP gas power operation should occur because it could create an unsafe condition.
• Contact a Dealer/Service Center to arrange a service date soon. The gas valve in your refrigerator will be replaced at no charge.

These refrigerators were installed in certain recreational vehicles as original equipment and sold as aftermarket equipment. A fatigue crack may develop in the boiler tube which may release a sufficient amount of pressurized coolant solution into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present. This release of coolant under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire.

There are potentially 926877 units affected
.

The vehicle manufacturers will notify owners of recreational vehicles that had the refrigerators installed as original equipment and Dometic will notify the owners of the aftermarket refrigerators. Dometic will install a secondary burner housing free of charge. Owners may contact Dometic at 888-446-5157.

DO NOT run your refrigerator on propane until the kit is installed.

You may already have a kit installed........Go to the refrigerator cover on the outside of the RV and remove the cover. Look inside, there should be a large metal cover about 9"x10" covering the burner area with or without decals on it, this cover may or may not be in place. What is the most important part of the kit, is mounted to the 4" aluminum vent tube that is over the propane burner area. There should be a 1/2" round THERMAL button attached with pop rivets to the tube and the wires from this go to another THERMAL (THERMISTER) fuse attached to the back refrigerator wall down by the burner tube. The wire from this goes to the control board.

THEORY: The 12VDC that operates the gas solenoid (before the modification) is routed directly to the circuit board. If there is a fire in the burner tube area, there is nothing to shut-off the gas valve which keeps supplying fuel to the burner. The modification puts 2 (two) thermistors (heat fuses) on the tube and burner areas. If there is a fire now, the thermistors trip and the 12VDC to the circuit board is stopped and the gas valve closes. Before you call for a service/repair appointment......PHYSICALLY CHECK to see if this modification has been done...saves everyone alot of time!

See Below for RVServicePro's recall information.

RVServicePro's Recall Information

These recall's are free of charge to RV owners who TAKE their RV's to their local RV service and repair facility. This may require you drop off your RV and pick it up at a later date after repairs are done. Certain repairs can be done "as you wait". We can refer you to a local service and repair facility if this is what you require. RVServicePro is a MOBILE service and repair company. We do these recalls, which are free, however there is a minimum charge of one hour to cover our expenses to come to you!! This can also be looked at as a "convenience charge".....meaning, how much is your time and effort to make the appointment, hook up and tow or drive your RV to the repair and service center, possibly unhook and leave to come back and rehook up only to tow your RV home again? Possibly a couple of hours? What is your time and convenience worth?
